I am interested in the search of truth.
Does truth really exist or is it relative and is the representation of it the key to it’s trustworthiness?
Newsmedia is often seen as a beacon of truth. For them it is essential to appear objective and trustworthy. Whether the content is biased or not, representation puts it into a recognizable setting that appears trustworthy and sometimes even authoritative.
This creation of integrity and trust is an interesting tool that I want to challenge.
Original newsvideos of the eveningnews are replaced by stockvideo’s and illustrates the story that is being told. And the newsanchor with the perfect control of the spoken language replaced by a well integrated foreigner.
If the elements are altered, does truth still have a meaning, is it still trustworthy?
Or is appearance of truth evenly or more important than the fact itself?
